Robert B. Kliesmet

Left us on October 25th at the age of 91.  Proud father of Christopher Allen (Mary Honzik), Brian (Linda), Lori Nischan (Michel), Karen Veling (Dean) and Valerie Kliesmet-Hoppens (Richard Hoppens.)  Further survived by 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Carol Kingsley and Jean Matuszak.  Bob was predeceased by his wives, Mary Jane Kliesmet and Janice Kliesmet, and his sister Cecilia Herkowski. 

After proudly serving his country in the Army, Bob was a City of Milwaukee police officer and key to the creation and development of the Milwaukee Police Association.  Bob went on to become the President of the International Union of Police Associations (AFL-CIO) and further served as the Milwaukee County Sheriff.  Bob was a nationally recognized expert on police stress, policing techniques and community policing.

Bob’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Rehab Center and Assisted Living at the Milwaukee Catholic Home for their kindness and care during his stay there.
