John E. Spaw

John Edward Spaw, age 74 of Antioch, IL born July 13, 1948 in Chicago, IL, passed away November 15th, 2022 after fighting COPD for years. He lived with his partner Theresa Sheridan and was former husband of Laurie and Carol. Son of the late John R. Spaw and Louise May(Dillard), Loving brother to Mary Lorine(John Brychel), Linda(Gene Eklund), Suedell, and Deborah(Lee Moe).  Loving father to John D. Spaw(Tiffany), and stepfather to Tammie(Douglas Martina).  Beloved grandfather to Devon(Dan Janes), Jonathon Spaw, and Braidyn Martina. He was a beloved Uncle and Cousin to many. 
John served in the Navy for several years. When he left the service he worked as a doorman, greeting everyone with a great big smile, making all feel welcomed. Later, he moved into maintenance for the same high rise on East Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago. 
He enjoyed sports, fishing, dancing, and a good game of online poker. He retired in Antioch several years ago. 
John was an excellent dancer and could do the swing better than anyone. He tried to teach others but it was difficult to keep up with his steps. At Thanksgiving he danced with his sisters and in the kitchen with his daughter to songs like Rockin’ Robin and he loved to have fun. 
There are so many wonderful, happy memories. John will be deeply missed.
