Joan Betty Alley passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023. She was 88 years old. She was the dearly loved wife of Lowell, the loving mother of Pamela (Jeffrey) Sischo, and the proud grandmother of Jordan and Andrew Sischo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and a brother. Joan will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Joan spent her early years in Omaha, Nebraska, and her college years in Manhattan, Kansas. After graduation, she went on to teach in South Dakota. It was there she met and married her husband Lowell. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Joan loved gardening, golf, working on stained glass projects, traveling, and reading. She loved helping children, and after her 1998 retirement as an educator in the Madison Public Schools, Joan and Lowell moved to Oak Creek and then Franklin to help take care of her grandsons. She also loved attending their school activities, sporting events, and musical performances.
Joan was an active Oak Creek Community United Methodist Church member, working on various committees and volunteering her time there and in the community.
Joan was a person of great energy. She was an attentive listener with a caring attitude and will be remembered for her positivity, selflessness, and determination. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Her family would like to thank the caregivers on 12S at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center and Aurora Zilber Family Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness in Joan’s last weeks.
