Jan A. (Ignatowski) Bergstrom

Jan Bergstrom (nee Ignatowski), 64-year-old of Saint Francis, WI passed away on 5/12/2021 in her home with her loving family and dogs at her bedside. 

She was born to Alvin and June Ignatowski on 3/8/1957 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Jan graduated from Bay View High School in 1975 and earned her Nursing degree from MATC in 1980. 

Jan was married to Venton Barno in August 2015. She is survived by her husband, daughter Heather Bergstrom (Nate Falendysz) of Vancouver, WA, step-son Greg (Amanda) Lasky and grandson Emmet Lasky, step-son Ryan Barno, step-daughter Caitlin Tunks-Barno, sister Jackie (Dave) Pietz, brother James (Jackie) Ignatowski, sister JoAnn (Peter) Ruud, sister Judy Kozlowski, numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and two dogs, Laney and Sadie. 

An excellent RN, Jan worked in numerous settings including Saint Luke’s, Waukesha Memorial, Milwaukee County Hospitals. She later transferred and spent most of her career working in the Milwaukee County Jail/Sheriffs Department. Jan prided herself on providing patient centered compassionate care no matter the circumstance. After retiring, she was a volunteer RN at Walker’s Point Community Clinic. 

Known for her tenacity and determination, she was most proud of being a single parent and raising her daughter, Heather. She truly embodied unconditional love for her family, friends and pets. The light and love that she brought to their lives will be greatly missed and thought of often.
