Obituary

Heather Marie Hinze (Jurk) 48 of Mt Pleasant, Wisconsin passed away on September 3, 2023.  Heather’s 5 ½ year battle with breast cancer ended at her home where she was surrounded by family and friends.

Heather is survived by her husband; Daniel Paul Hinze, her children; Margret Isabelle Hinze/Dillon Flores, Daniel Aleczander Hinze/Ashley Hinze (Manka), Ireland Louise Hinze, her parents; Cynthia (Cindi) Lue Jurk (Brand) and Scott Jeffrey Jurk, her brother; Jared Benjamin Jurk/Danielle Jurk (Stolfo) as well as Father-in-law and Mother-in-law; David & Karen Hinze and multiple Sister-in-laws and Brother-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, co-workers, friends, and students whose lives she positively impacted.

Heather was born January 10, 1975 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Cynthia (Cindi) Jurk (Brand) and Scott Jurk.  Heather attended Sheboygan Falls Elementary, Middle, and High Schools graduating in 1993.  She moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin where she met the love of her life Daniel Hinze.  The two were married in June of 1999.  They joined the U.S. Army and were stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with Daniel being deployed several times.  They had three children: Margret Isabelle Hinze, Daniel Aleczander Hinze, and Ireland Louise Hinze.

Heather worked in the DOD Education system while raising her family at Fort Campbell, KY and graduated from Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee earning her degree in English.  Heather, Dan, and the kids returned to Wisconsin and settled in Mt Pleasant with Heather joining the Racine Unified School System.  Heather taught for 7 years, retiring after the 2022 school year to spend more time with her family while she fought the cancer.  Heather and Dan did some traveling between treatments and Heather was able to check off fun experiences from her bucket list.

Heather had a great passion for reading and teaching, and would love for these things to continue to be a part of her legacy.

She requested that in Lieu of Flowers, well wishers donate books or memorials, for the purchase of books for Heather’s Little Library childhood book lending at the Charles A. Wustum Museum, by bringing it to the “Celebration of Life”.
