Elisabeth (Betty) Koehn was called home to her Lord and Savior on July 19th, 2023, and is now reunited with her Husband Dr. Arlyn R. Koehn who passed in 1976. Betty was born in Fond Du Lac, WI on September 4th, 1937, and was the daughter of Professor Heinrich J. Vogel and Hilda Vogel who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Dorothy (Witte) who lives in Fon du Lac, WI. She was the mother of Kurt Koehn of Racine, and Karen Cassady of North Carolina. A loving Grandmother to her grandchildren and loved by all who knew her.
In her earlier life, she was a Lutheran school teacher in Bay City, MI. Later obtaining her Nursing Degree from Alverno Collage, and spent some time as the School Nurse at The Prairie School. After raising her two children, she opened her own Craft Store (“Busy Hands”) in Oak Creek that she ran for many years. Then decided to move to Florida for the next 14 years, until she returned to Racine when Kurt’s son was born. After her years of “Grandma Duties”, she kept active with part time Craft Sales at Joann Fabrics. Betty enjoyed visits with friends over coffee and would have engaging conversations for hours. She was known for her “Betty’s Famous Scrubbers” that she made and sold by mail all over the country. She also enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. Betty also LOVED to watch golf. Her final days were spent at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, for whom we are grateful. She will be dearly missed.
